Rallying for Health Care Reform WBNG-TV
In Binghamton, they're showing strong support for a universal system.
As Action News Reporter Julianne Sweeney tells us, there's a group that believes Americans need reform now.
"Choice not chance..." said protesters.
Citizen Action of New York leads people in protest.
Outside the Federal Building in Binghamton, the group's speaking out against the nation's health care system.
"We've waited for this moment for a very, very long time." said Lea Webb of Citizen Action.
These people want to show Congress that New Yorkers are in support of the President's public health insurance option.
Cancer survivors spoke of how they were unable to pay medical bills after claims were rejected by private insurance companies.
"Found out afterwards, $56,000 later that they denied my claim...We had to file bankruptcy because of it." said Teressa Garland of Afton.
Canada, Ireland and Australia offer universal health care.
Some survivors have lived in these countries and say the plan worked for them.
